Sunday 12th February - Reach On The Road

This Sunday, 12th February, we're taking reach "on the road" to join up with King's Church Manchester as they welcome Ian & Marj Rossol from All Nations Church, Leicester.

Instead of meeting at Manchester Academy School as usual, we'll be heading over to King's House at the slightly earlier time of 6.00pm, where we'll worship together and hear Ian & Marj share.

The address for King's House is Sidney Street (off Oxford Road), Manchester M1 7HB. Find directions here.

Ian & Marj are emerging as a spiritual father and mother to a move of God here in the UK. They desire to see each person released into their God-given supernatural birthright and heritage – rooted in the love of the Father, growing in the grace of Jesus and overflowing with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Farewell 2011, hello 2012!

2011 has been a great year for us at reach!

We've had two incredible weekends away (in February with Santino Hamberis and November with Terry & Bev McNamara), some amazing guest speakers (the team of BSSM Students in March and Randall Worley in October). Our weekly Campus Breakout has given us a multitude of incredible testimonies, we've launched new lifegroups, we've had amazing times of worship, great teaching (including our series in the books of James and Galatians) and God has moved powerfully as we've prayed for one another.

So what does 2012 hold hold for us?

We are believing for an increase of all God has done already, and for us to see, hear, encounter and know Him is new ways! The next year is going to be a great year for us as a church family - there's so much in store for us!

One big thing that will be happening in the new year is that we will be moving reach to a new location... just across the road in our new building!! Dates are still to be confirmed, so we may well start the year at Manchester Academy School, but we will be moving to our new place by early Spring. You can find out all the details about our building project here.

We're now on our Christmas break - we'll be back for a new year with a new series and so much more on Sunday 15th January 2012!

Reach Weekend Away - Essential Info!

The Reach Weekend Away is nearly upon us!

If you’re booked on, you should have received an email with the following info on it...

FOOD
The weekend will be catered from Saturday breakfast through to Sunday breakfast, and we will leave before lunchtime on the Sunday, so eat before you come on Friday!

MONEY
The total cost of the weekend away is £55. If you haven’t paid yet, please do so as soon as possible. You can pay by cash or cheque tonight, or contact us for our bank details to make a transfer.

TRAVEL
The coach is leaving from Manchester Academy School at 6.30pm on Friday. Please be on time, we’d hate to leave without you! If you’re making your own way there, the address you will need is: Cliff College, Calver, Hope Valley, Derbyshire S32 3XG. You can arrive from 7pm. Directions can be found here: http://g.co/maps/w6frr. If you would like to come early and help us with set up, please let me know!

WHAT TO BRING
Obviously we don’t need to remind you to bring clean clothes, deodorant or your toothbrush. It’s November so warm clothes are recommended! You will need to bring a towel (assuming you want to shower...), but bedding will be provided for you.Things like Bibles, notepads and pens will prove invaluable. Saturday afternoon will involve some free time, so if being in the great outdoors is your thing, bring some decent footwear and enjoy a ramble. There may well be some competitive sport as well, bring something to get involved with that!

CAKES
We would love it if you would consider doing some baking for the weekend away! It makes the weekend just that little bit more special having home-made treats! Whatever you’re able to bring would be very welcome.

PRAY
We believe that time spent away together will be really significant for us all, so we would love for you to be praying for the weekend away! Pray for the team getting things ready and for Terry & Bev McNamara as they come to share. Pray for us as a church family, that we would encounter God and be marked by his love in a new way. If you feel like God is showing you stuff as you pray, we’d love to hear what He’s saying - email us!

Taste - 13th November

Sunday 13th November 2011, 6.30pm at Manchester Academy School

This Sunday at reach we have Taste, an opportunity to find out a little more about who Jesus is, what church is like and time to "taste as see that the Lord is good".

We're really excited about opening up our doors to friends and giving them the opportunity to see what happens at reach each week. We'll take time to explain why we do what we do and steer clear of christian jargon, but we'll do the things we do normally: we'll worship, hear from the Bible and pray for one another, not to mention hanging out and enjoying home made cakes together. Taste is a bit like inviting someone important round your house for a visit: you wouldn't knock a wall down but you would tidy up and make them feel special.

This week at Taste we'll also have Insight Teams, who will wait on God to hear what is on His heart for people. What an incredible opportunity to come to church and hear God's heart for you! Every time we have done Insight Teams in the past, we've had amazing feedback from guests - especially those who aren't yet christians.

You can get involved in 3 ways!

1. INVITE. Bring a friend! Or three! If you didn't manage to grab an invite on Sunday, why not us the Facebook event to invite them?

2. PRAY. We'll be praying on Friday lunch time together. Wherever you are, why not skip lunch and spend the time in prayer, knowing that others from across our church family are doing the same. You can pray for the following:
- Boldness in inviting friends, and for those invitations to be accepted!
- For all our guests, that they would have ears to hear the good news of Jesus and hearts that would receive his love.
- For everyone involved - for the worship team, the insight teams, people sharing from the front - that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit and equipped with everything they need
- Ask God what else you can pray for!

3. BAKE. We need your cakes, cookies, muffins, brownies and more! (I'm getting hungry writing this). Bring some home-made goodies with you to bless our guests!

Special guest speaker - 16th October

We are delighted to welcome Randall Worley as our special guest speaker at reach, this Sunday 16th October.

Randall pastored a thriving congregation for 25 years and is now the founder of Headwaters Ministries, which provides apostolic consultation to church leadership and teaches in churches and conferences on relevant kingdom issues. Randall received his PhD in religious philosophy in 2009. His cutting edge articles have been published in many of the leading Christian publications today and he is a regular guest instructor in some of the world's leading schools of ministry, preparing believers to impact the world with kingdom influence. Randall and his wife Penny have three adult sons who are all uniquely involved in various aspects of lifestyle ministry. Randall is based in Fort Mill, South Carolina, USA. We're taking a little break at the moment but coming up we have a few awesome things:

July: The Month of Fun
Every Sunday afternoon/evening in July we'll be joining up with the whole Vinelife church family to spend time together having fun! A wide range of activities to suit all ages - more info coming soon.

Summer Reach
Summer reach is a laid-back, sandal-wearing version of the reach you know and love. Every Sunday from 7th August through to early September, we'll be at Manchester Academy School at 6.30pm, in the 6th Form Common Room.

If you're not around in Manchester over the summer then we'll miss you! Have a great time wherever you are!!

How To Hear God's Voice

Saturday 7th May

10am-2pm
Manchester Academy School

Get equipped to hear God for yourself and for others! We believe that God is speaking all the time, and that we can learn to tune in to hear what is on his heart for us and other people too. This training takes a practical, biblical approach to moving in the prophetic.
Once you complete the training, you'll be equipped to serve on our Prophetic Teams on a Sunday morning (plus Insight Teams at Taste) but there's no obligation to do so.

How To Pray Like Jesus

Saturday 14th May

10am-2pm
Manchester Academy School

Incredible things happened when Jesus prayed for people: the blind could see, the lame could walk and the dead rose again! How To Pray Like Jesus equips you to pray like Jesus did; we use the model of prayer Jesus used. Learn to pray for others whether you're at home, at uni, at work, on the bus, at lifegroup... even in church!
This training will equip you to be on a Prayer Team for reach or morning service - again, there's no obligation to join a team, but doing so is a valuable way to practice everything you've learnt!

Leading A Lifegroup

Lifegroups are the place for you to grow, relate, be challenged, be encouraged, and walk out life alongside others - they really are at the heart of all that we do at reach and Vinelife. And in order to facilitate them, we need lifegroup leaders!

Leading A Lifegroup isn't for the super-spiritual; we believe we have it in all of us to lead a small group! If leading a lifegroup is something you've considered for now or for in the future, come along and get equipped!

Reach Saturday Studies is back!

Join us as we feed on God's word together. We start this Saturday and will be running every other week until the end of the semester.

This term we'll be diving into the book of Mark together, but before that we'll have a couple of intro sessions of how to get the best out of our Bible studies. All of it under the expert tutelage of Chris & Sarah Foster!

It's going to be amazing - make sure you get along if you can!

Explore Series: I AM...

This term we're going to be spending our Explore evenings looking at the 'I AM...' sayings of Jesus. Sarah kicked off our new series on Sunday by looking at 'I AM... the bread of life'. You can listen to it on the podcast now!

Each time Jesus said 'I AM...' he wasn't just stating a fact about himself. He was sharing a truth which has an impact for the way we live our lives today, so we'll be how Jesus talked about himself makes a change in our lives!

Join us as we discover more about who Jesus is!

As you may know, reach has been meeting at MMU Student Union for the last 7 years, and we were hoping to be back there this year, but circumstances have meant that we won't be there!

So, for the first time during term time, we will be meeting at Manchester Academy School (same location as Vinelife Sunday Mornings Celebrations) every Sunday at 6.30pm this term.

Manchester Academy is located on Moss Lane East, which is at the North end of Curry Mile and is within a few minutes walk from all the Wilmslow Road bus routes.

It's an exciting new season for us as a church family and we're excited for all that God has for us this year!

July: The Month Of Fun - Forest, Fire & Flashlights, Sunday 25th July

Forest, Fire & Flashlights:

To round off July: The Month Of Fun in spectacular fashion we will be heading to Outseats in Derbyshire for an evening of forest, fire and flashlights! Having arrived at Hollin Bank Car Park we'll share some food together in the picnic area before heading up to the woods for some wide games. We'll then come back and have a fire-pit where you can roast marshmallows and swap war-stories to your heart's content. There are also lots of nice paths to wander around and enjoy the countryside from if that's what you'd prefer. It's going to be fun!!

The plan: meet at 5pm in Sainsbury's Car Park in Fallowfield if you want to join the convoy, or alternatively rendezvous with us at Hollin Bank at 6.30pm (directions will be available at church on Sunday morning). The journey is about a 1hr drive. We have to be out by 10pm at the latest, but you can always leave earlier if you need to.

A couple of things to know beforehand:
1. Maybe don't wear your best clothes.
2. Bring some food with you to eat as there's nowhere nearby to pick anything up.
3. Have some change in your pocket for the car park.
4. Don't forget your flashlights!

Directions:

DESTINATION: Outseats, Derbyshire
From Fallowfield Sainsbury's:

- Head north up Wilmslow Road and turn right onto Dickenson Road/A6010.
- Turn left at St John’s Road/A6010 and then right onto Kirkmanshulme Lane/A6010 - following signs for the A57.
- Turn right onto Hyde Road/A57 and continue to follow this road.
- At the roundabout (where you meet the M60) take the 2nd exit onto M67.
- At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Hyde Road/A57. You will stay on the A57 for approx. 16 miles, making use of Snake Pass.
- Having reached Ladybower Reservoir, turn right at the traffic lights onto A6013. (You will go over a relatively long bridge).
- After just under 1 mile turn left onto New Road (opposite a phone box). If you reach Ladybower Fisheries then you have gone too far!
- Follow this road as it becomes Long Causeway. After a couple of miles on this road you will see a dense patch of trees on right. The road then passes through a gate and turns right - continue to follow it.
- Continue along this road for another mile, after which you will see Hollin Bank Car Park on the left. Turn in and park up (pay and display) - you’ve made it!

Running order:
6.30pm - Arrive and eat in the picnic area near the car park. Have a little wander if you’re a fast eater.
7.15pm - Walk up to the woods for some wide-games.
8.45pm - Fire pit! Back near the car park
10.00pm - Curfew. Feel free to leave whenever, but the gates will be locked at 10pm.

Summer Reach

Throughout August and early September this year, join us for summer reach!

We’ll be gathering together on Sunday evenings, 6.30pm for about an hour to worship, pray and look at God’s word together. The summer brings with it the chance for a wider variety of our church family to share, more acoustic worship and the long evenings to hang out together afterwards!

We’re going to be meeting at Manchester Academy - the same venue we use for Vinelife in the mornings. We’ll be in the main hall. If you need directions, you can find them here.

Shorts and flip-flops are optional!

July: The Month Of Fun - Beach Trip, Sunday 18th July

We're hitting the beach this Sunday as part of July: The Month Of Fun.

We'll meet at 2.30pm at St Annes Pier (directions to the car park), and there'll be some games to join in with (or not, if you prefer!) then at 5.30pm we'll worship together. After that feel free to stick around or head off home. We also recommend getting fish & chips at some point!

If you're interested in coming along but don't drive or want someone to travel with, join us at Vinelife's Sunday Celebration from 10am.
